Please introduce yourself: What is your name, where are you from, what do you do?
My name is Taizo Nomura, born in 1968 and raised in Japan. I am an ordinary Japanese man who has been working in Singapore for two years, earnestly working in sales. Thus, I always carry my compact camera in my business bag and capture moments whenever beauty strikes me.
What is your relationship with photography and how did you get into it?
After graduating from high school in Japan, I ventured to the US to study English and discover my passion. Being in a new environment opened my eyes to new possibilities, leading me to pursue photography. I began my studies at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska, before transferring to the Rochester Institute of Technology to major in Fine Art Photography, graduating in 1994. However, upon returning to Japan in 1995, the demands of work caused photography to gradually fade from my life.
In 2015, an opportunity arose for me to work in Singapore. Leaving my family behind, I embraced this new chapter, and once again found myself captivated by the fresh perspectives offered by a new place. In December 2016, I purchased my first digital camera, reigniting my passion for capturing the beauty of everyday life. I believe that ordinary places and objects hold extraordinary potential, and it is through the lens that their true essence can be revealed. For me, photography is not just about capturing images—it's about capturing moments that quicken the heartbeat and stir the soul, whether it's the magic of light or the mysteries of the mind.
What are you currently working on, and—if there is—what is your next project or journey?
What I am currently engaged in will likely become my life's work. I intend to continue pursuing photography for as long as I am able. Oh, and by the way, any tips on how to gain more followers on Instagram? Ha ha ha... Thank you, Alexandre.
Thank you, Taizo.
