PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF: WHAT IS YOUR NAME, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, WHAT DO YOU DO?

I'm Rik Moran, originally from Manchester, lived in London, now based in New York. I'm a photographer, publisher of Flâneurism photobooks and Creative Director.

WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH PHOTOGRAPHY AND HOW DID YOU GET INTO IT?

I've taken photographs for as long as I can remember, first through my design background and then I just carried on. Back in the early days of cheap european flights and film, I'd always be the guy with three cameras on holidays with friends. As such they'd ask for copies of my prints and always find it funny they got back 36 photos of escalators, phone boxes and walls. It took me a while to figure out what I was doing and to form my work. The Flâneurism project had been kicking around in my head in different forms for around 5 years before I actually started it. I went back to college to try and make sense of what I was doing, and also attended a a lot of photobooks workshops and events.

I suppose it's my never ending search for a great photo that keeps me motivated, and these days images exists as part of wider projects for me, some started some not yet formed. I've always found myself joining the dots with photography, be that through coincidences or memories and I'm always adding to that as I go.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON, AND—IF THERE IS—WHAT IS YOUR NEXT PROJECT OR JOURNEY?

I'm launching some new Flâneurism books shortly, one of the photos taken outside Trump doing the day before and after the US Election last year. It's a bit of a departure from some of the other books, (it features people for a start), but I've sat on these shots for nearly a year and I felt they need to get out there. There's a few other projects brewing (as ever) which I'm always adding to as I go along.
