AK: Please introduce yourself: What is your name, where are you from, what do you do?
SS: My name is Sopho Sikharulidze. I am a Georgian citizen who just loves taking pictures and sharing them on instagram. I think publishing my works already is sharing something personal and intimate. I am 27 years old, married, with no children yet, I am studying and I always keep my camera close to me.
AK: What is your relationship with photography? How did you get into it and what keeps you interested or motivated?
SS: I don’t have any academic background in the field of photography, taking pictures was something spontaneous that took the start during my trip in Istanbul. while visiting Hagia Sofia with my husband, on a sunny day I suddenly felt that something beautiful was going on around me that I did not want to fade away and felt the urge to memorize it visually, by imprinting it. There is a Human Element in Every pictures in it.
However, honestly I have never looked at it as a particular project. It can be seen as the reflection of how I see the world and my perception of its existence, in other words: I cannot see a universe without a human being and vice versa.
AK: What are you currently working on, and — if there is — what is your next project or journey?
SS: I don’t have a website yet, I am working on it. I have my personal photo book / Imaginary Days. I was the winner of the mobile photography contest «Best of the Week» by «1415 Mobile Photography Collective» — who made my first photo book.
Two of my photos are now exhibited at «Istanbul Foto Festival 2017». The @hartcollective jury has chosen two of my photos.
AK: Thank you, Sopho!
