AK: Please introduce yourself: What is your name, where are you from, what do you do?
LS: My name is Luca Savettiere, I was born in Palermo in 1976, where I live and work. I’m a photographer.
AK: What is your relationship with photography? How did you get into it and what keeps you interested or motivated?
LS: I graduated in History of art with a specialization in Film History and criticism from the University of Palermo. Image is the recurring theme in my work: after a professional approach on video production in the artistic experimental field, I gave vent to my great interest in photography applying my «street interpretation» in different domains, such as advertising.
A need primarily born as a «sociological» interest, in order to find specific elements in the urban landscape that deeply connect the man to the environment in wich he lives. My analysis tries to relate man, geographic territory and what on the territory was added by the man.
AK: What are you currently working on, and—if there is—what is your next project or journey?
LS: I am currently working on a project called “Somewhere in Sicily”. I do not have a clear idea, but when I will know more I will talk about it. Recently I visited Cuba, a place of great beauty but full of contradictions.
AK: Thank you, Luca!
